Zanzibar (Unguja) is together with Pemba and Mafia the island group which belongs to Tanzania.

Zanzibar's capital is called  Zanzibar Town.

Due to its history Zanzibar has many influences in e.g. Stone Town. Here you can see historical influences of those countries who use to do trades (mostly spices) on the island. Countries like Persia, Portugal and other African countries left a big impact on the island. Now a days most tourist who are visiting are here for their honeymoon or for scuba diving because the reef is spectacular.

July to September is the best period to visit Zanzibar.
In these months you avoid the rains and the highest temperatures.

Zanzibar has a tropical climate.
All year around the average temperature is between 25 - 30 degrees Celsius.

Travel documents

On arrival on Zanzibar you must have a passport which is valid for at least another 6 months.
You must have a visa for the island which you can get on line or in person if you go to the consulate of the country you live in.

Malaria

All around Zanzibar you can get malaria.
Its also mandatory to be vaccinated against cholera.
